SPAM and a New Site

You guys have probably figured out that someone with too much time on their hands hacked into my account and sent out a post about the Netherlands this morning.

Haha. So funny, right?

It was posted on a separate cached page, so you won’t actually find it onΒ the blog.

I am upgrading the site, and I hope that it will have a lot more to offer.Β  So, I’m sorry for the spam this morning; I will be back to posting again soon.

  1. It DID seem a little “Off-topic.” πŸ™‚

  2. Yeah, I thought that one was a little odd πŸ™‚

  3. I did think it was a little odd. Could have been worse. πŸ™‚

  4. I did think it was a little odd, but thought it was good info. πŸ™‚

  5. And I was going to comment on the Netherlands post! Because my 8th grade daughter gleefully will correct anyone and everyone who calls it “Holland.” Even her math tutor.

  6. hehe. I do correct people on that, though found it pretty odd that it would be on your blog. A little geography/history lesson – all good. At least nobody was advertising any body part enhancements. πŸ˜‰

  7. This is exactly why strong unique passwords are so important. If your hacked password was also used on other sites you need to change them ASAP. Hackers will now try many different sites to gain access.

Considering the possible types of spam you could have been hit with, you were lucky. Maybe an ethical hacker who wanted to make a point about weak passwords got into your site and posted a trivial message instead of real spam, porn, or even worse, a link to a religious site.

    • @Paul, They actually didn’t get into my site (I do have a strong password) because the post doesn’t show up on my site. It’s on a cached page, and there are no other posts on it. I’m pretty sure it was a plug-in I used. I’ve tried to delete everything and start from scratch. I’ve also added some security. I’m learning….

  8. Was trying to think what the Netherlands had to do with what is talked about on your blog….

    • @Stephanie I don’t know but I thought it was funny that it mentioned Texas, At first, I thought it was a reader playing a joke on me!

  9. Thanks for clarifying. I enjoyed feeling well informed, but was puzzled about the context.

  10. We need to talk. πŸ˜‰

  11. Haha! I figured someone REALLY cared about the feelings of the Dutch.

  12. Hmmm…. my biz partner’s wife is from the Nederlands. Perhaps he did it? Hacking sites to get new clients would be a strange business model IMHO.

  13. I actually found the post very informative and a nice change of pace even though I do enjoy most all of your topics.

  14. Forgive them, for they know not what they do.

Sorry to hear, Deb. The godless are quite often targets for any number of reasons. Maybe a St. Christopher medallion would help?

  15. @LT It was probably some kid who did it just for grins…. πŸ™‚

  16. Lol I was confused as everyone else was. Thought maybe you were going through something. I was with you though!

    • @Amy I swear these comments have given me some good chuckles! (I was REALLY confused when I saw that I had sent an e-mail that I didn’t remember writing!)

  17. It wasn’t me. πŸ™‚

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
